* What is the Architecture account used for? Is it the same as my UniKey/Extro account?

The Architecture Account is generated for students and staff enrolled in courseworks, and those who work, within the Faculty of Architecture.
It is used for:
* logging on to lab computers for students and staff
* logging on to administrative computers for staff
* checking printing credit for printers in our Faculty for students
* logging on to our Architecture FTP server
* mapping your UNIX Homes drive/folder * publishing my website for courseworks online on our Web server.

The Architecture Account is NOT the same as your Unikey/Extro account. You CANNOT use your Architecture Account to log on to General Access lab computers on campus, nor any campus Library computers.

* What is my Unix Homes Folder/drive for?

Your Unix Homes Folder is a personal network storage space on our Faculty File server.
It is for storing files, and also for publishing webpages online.
It is hosted on our Unix File server, and it gets backed up regularly.

*Student accounts have a file space quota (begins sem1-2004) (quota value still under review).

* Animation & Audio coursework students may request for an expansion of their quota.

* Because this folder is accessed over the network, at times during peak usage it can be noticeably lagged. Thus, it is UNADVISABLE to run WORKING files off it, or stream media from it.

* Consider your Unix Homes folder instead, as more of a supplimentary backup storage media. It is still best to backup files to your own CD/DVD, ZIP, floppy, or USB memory sticks once you leave the Faculty for the day.
