Reserve the Laser Cutter

Covered shoes and safety card must be worn
There is a charge of $7.50 per half hour or part thereof (subject to change)
No ply will be cut
Contours/Site Models will only be cut in the first 5 weeks of semester, maximum 3 sheets
Laser bookings can only be cancelled by sending an email to atsc@arch.usyd.edu.au
Cancellations must be notified by close of previous day to allow bookings for waiting students
Year 3 and Masters maximum of one hour per week, Year 2 a maximum of half an hour.
No raster engraving
Student who books the laser must be present at booking
Swapping/giving booking to another student is not permitted (at ATSC discretion at end of semester only)
Failure to cancel booking or a no show counts as 1 strike. 2 strikes and student is banned from using the cutter for 1 month
Set up of file is included in booking.
Maximum of 2 students per project in the laser cutter room due to space constraints.
Student must clean up after themselves or be banned from the cutter
Regulation over complex vector engraving, the laser is for complex cuts not colouring in facades (no brickwork, decking, tiles, cobblestones etc) a small sample eg 2x2cm can be etched)
Maximum thickness of materials are as follows: Perspex 3mm, Boxboard 3mm, Corrugated Cardboard 6mm
Last cut 7.30pm (finish at 8pm) on allotted days
Must provide own masking tape
Plan ahead, Laser may not be available in peak periods.
Read Lazer instructions. Download the Laser Cutting Template.
No same day bookings. This means if it is Monday morning you cannot book for Monday afternoon
If you are more than 10 minutes late, you forfeit the booking.
Payment for materials on the day.
Not available to first year students.
Simple projects may be refused other equipment available for cutting.
Maximum allowed time per booking is 30min which includes setup time .
Check your reservation is displayed in this calendar before arriving on the day. Administrators have the authority to override any student reservation.
